About Heather Cavalieri
Heather is an artist currently living and working in Emmaus, Pennsylvania. Originally from Ohio, Heather grew up as a maker fascinated by the hand drawn, the handmade, and the interior work of creating. These interests led to earning a degree in psychology from La Roche College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and a bachelor of fine arts degree in Craft with a concentration in fibers from Oregon College of Art & Craft in Portland, Oregon.
While learning many different techniques related to fibers (weaving, knitting, dyeing among a few), Heather dove into a practice that brings together stitching, ink, and collage on paper. She is still exploring these materials and techniques which to her are conceptually attached to a type of slow, reflective action - writing letters, creating lists on paper, sewing by hand. The process of cutting paper, pasting down repeating shapes and sewing with thread has a meditative connection. There is a sense of movement and a slowness of pace in Heather’s work, an interest in a visual language that is subtle.
